An expert is a person who has made all the mistakes in his narrow field that can ever be made.
A significant life lesson taught to me by my preceptor – If you want to know about a particular subject, one must go to the master in that field to learn or seek advice.
I still remember the day when I expressed my goal to become the CEO, and he said, why are you seeking guidance from someone who is not a CEO. That was my Eureka moment and realised that only a CEO can tell me how to become one.
Hence, no matter what people tell you it is important to listen but act accordingly taking your own decisions or seeking expert guidance. It so happened that my preceptor’s car was to be serviced. Recently someone had said that the tyres were worn out and need to be replaced.
I have learnt that it is always important to get a second or multiple opinions to be able to take the right decision. I immediately mentioned that, when the vehicle was given to service and the mechanic to check the conditions of the tyres and confirm if it needs to be changed. The mechanic after a thorough check said, that the tyres are all in good condition.
Learn and seek guidance only from the “SMEs” because only a God can tell you who He Truly Is.
