“Bondage is to be used for learning and understanding the truth. Freedom is about savouring the moment of truth and not misusing it!”

The term bondage speaks about confinement and being a slave to someone or something. Man is bound by his own Upadhis or conditioning. He usually finds himself unable to move ahead or progress due to these limiting conditions. Then how does he break out and achieve the freedom from these limiting conditions? The hubris experienced by the egotistical mind leads one on the downward spiral without giving one a chance of recovery if these bondages are left unattended to.

Habits and addiction are uncontrollable but they can be nipped in the bud before they start. Curiosity and dare makes one accept challenges and gauntlets. You love to show off your controls and prowesses which are the root causes of these pitfalls. When you know for sure that these prohibited and forbidden things are detrimental to your life, why try them out?

I met an individual who was unable to get over his cigarettes addiction and to overcome that he switched over to chewing gum. Then he started swallowing it completely. It caused a lot of trouble for him. I advised him that he shouldn’t give up one to take up another devil as his companion. Replacing drugs by cigarettes or chewing gum just speaks of weak will power.

Knowledge will guide you towards the point of detachment but it won’t completely rid you off your bondages. To overcome these bindings one has to learn to control desires and urges. These are in your hands alone. No one else can do it for you. You should exercise self control and put in tremendous efforts to control your darkest desires.

Overcoming desires and becoming free from all attachments leads one to complete freedom. The key word here is self-efforts. No one can help you except your own good self. So now be your real good self and overcome all material worldly bondages and achieve complete freedom.
