I am proud to be a housewife said this woman. To be a housewife is one of the toughest occupations in the world and I have been around since the last 23 years of my marriage. We have a great marriage and my husband is my god.
When I came into this family many years ago, I decided I will dedicate my life to this one man and give him all my love and support. Of course, he is very dominating and so are my children. So that happens in every family, isn’t it?
I get up early in the morning and prepare tea and then food for my family. My family consists of my spouse, two sons, parents in law. They are all a gem of people. My family loves to eat healthy and fresh food. They all eat at home. Not like nowadays, where everyone eats outside. I give each one of them fresh and hot food. Yes, I cook twice a day. See, I told you he loves very hot food. He travels a lot. I usually take our car to the airport to pick him up or drop him. No, I never thought of working at all. Since he is the bread winner of the house and earns well, I don’t think I need to work. I have my dreams of being by his side and taking care of him during our retirement age. We own two properties, one in the city and other in our native place. My sister is married and settled in Toronto. Sometimes, we go to visit her. Sorry, once we visited her four years ago. They come down every two years. See, they earn in dollars so they can afford to spend. Oh, that doesn’t mean, we cannot! We usually go on trips abroad every few years. Last we went to Thailand two years ago. This year we have to go to London to see our sons graduation ceremony. I am really very happy in life. Why do you ask about such subjects like sex? Oh, it’s good I guess. Maybe once a month or whatever! We are old you know. So, there! Religion is a very integral part of our life. My family is very religious. We pray every day. My in laws and husband have to pray first thing after bathing. I have to get everything ready before they sit for Pooja. God has been very kind to us. We have saved enough for a rainy day. We have superannuation packages and all that. See, all those financial things I don’t understand. My husband takes care of us. We all have life insurance and health insurance too. Once my children grow up and settle down and get married, I will happily retire with my daughter in laws handling all. Why should I bother about it now? The future is secure and I don’t worry about it. My worry is handled by my husband. Any woman would give her right hand to have a wonderful life like mine.
I am an engineering graduate and I decided that I shouldn’t pursue any career in life. So I got a good husband. I can’t say my degree is a waste. I got my husband because of my degree, right? So, it came in handy.
How many such cases have we all heard in our day to day life? Now the questions that I ask. What happens if the husband dies suddenly? What happens if he finds someone else and insists on divorce? Children decide they don’t want to get back to the family since they are too old fashioned! What if the girls they marry care two hoots for house work and are working outside? What happens if there are no jobs left for anyone? What if???
Now before we go any further, you will notice that there seems to be nothing wrong with this woman. She has accepted her life and decided that her life is to serve her family alone.
Now do you think today’s woman thinks this way? Does she have no ambition in life? Does she love to waste her precious education? Does she think that a husband is god? Does she want to serve the family? Does she believe her life is free and wonderful as a housewife or she considers herself as an unpaid servant? Does she believe she was born to serve and an unequal? Does she insulate herself from all major decision making processes like finances, etc? Does she believe life is full of peace and joy? Does she believe children get married to opposite sex? Doesn’t sexual satisfaction have anything to do with personal equations? Can religion sustain in the future? Will single income keep pace with inflation? What about her own dreams and aspirations?
I know all these questions have no or little meaning for the wife of yesterday. Her life is just a pipe dream. When it will end no one has any idea. Till then we let her live in her own world of bondage and slavery. She can no way understand that woman today will never become her ever.
We have entered the Kali Yuga and Kali rises with every breath. She will demand equality and domination too. She will ask for her place first but will not be offered by man so she will not ask anymore. She will take it by sheer brute strength and force. You will see it happen. Till then man can continue. The day is fast approaching so beware! Kali will rise soon.
