Terms And Conditions

In our day to day life, we have so many terms and conditions to adhere to. Whenever a man enters an institution he is subjected to worldly norms and rules to abide by.

The institution called marriage is one of the most abused and misused one, where a man needs to live by the daily rules but doesn’t. The constant bickering and fights associated with this relationship show us how poorly the rules of marriage are respected by the participants. The breakdown happens very quickly and everything comes crashing down.

Then there is the constitution of countries which gets abused very clearly by the rulers and administrators. The lowly citizen has little control over the rulers. So as to maintain the sanctity of this ruler and subject relationship, the constitution was created. Abiding by the letter of the law helps proper governance. But you can see how it gets floated everywhere in the world.

Human relationships are subject to all kinds of do’s and don’t. We all need to abide by these set of conditions and stay in harmony. There is also a place for redressal in the system. Courts and arbitration help in certain cases but there are much more difficult situations which cannot be sorted by such means and hence forgiveness and letting go is the important path. Religion teaches us to forgive and forget.

Now we come to spiritual domain and here the lines get very strong. Spiritual is all about spirit and there are no rules or regulations valid here. The body has its rules but the spirit is free. It is unbiased and not committed to anything or anyone. It is neutral and doesn’t participate in any activity. The activity part is only for the body and the body is not spiritual. The body is swayed by nature and its relationships with past births. The body is ruled by karma and tendencies. Hence it comes underworldly rules and regulations. The terms and conditions are governed by the worldly laws. The spirit, in turn, is not at all a part of the material world.

When you approach a Guru for guidance and salvation, the Guru has his own set of rules and conditions which you need to abide by. Since man is still in the material domain, he has to follow the diktats of the Guru and Gurukul. The disciple had absolutely no say or rights therein. It appears like a one-way street and very dictatorial in nature. The reins are only in the hands of the preceptor and no one else. Accepting them for the disciples growth and emancipation is the only way out. The Guru has the final say in anything and everything. Till the disciple doesn’t hand over the power of attorney to the Guru, there is no going forward.

The rules in the material world do not apply in the spiritual world. If you have any grudge or misapprehension about any god, the Guru can extract you out of it. But if there are any issues or grudges with the Guru, no God can ever extract or release the individual out of it. So it is better to be truthful and follow the rules laid down by the Guru and not get into any of His bad books since no god in this world can save you.
