Notice how everyone is super excited to be here. The word here you can substitute for any of the events, speeches, talks, social media platforms or in front of a crowd. At large gatherings, many such excitable people find fake words to exploit it.

Why do we like to say things we actually don’t mean anything at all? It is only to our personal interest that the excitement is all about. No one is bothered about others. The talk or address might be the same repetitive stuff we have been dishing out at every venue.

Man gets excited at absolutely nothing if he gets a number of claps or accolades. He gets puffed up when his number is called out. You can hear the person announce these words, let’s welcome ABC with a loud round of applause.

In spiritual, we are not to be disturbed by any kind of boosting to our ego or deflation of it. The word equanimity should be the hallmark of any spiritualist. Nothing should disturb the equipoise of mind. To maintain the equanimity of mind, we should cultivate dispassion. The moment man is passionate, he is pulled hither and thither by the mind. The mind loves to hear praises and abhors any kind of abuses.

There is a simple method where you can try to retain your spiritual sanity. Whenever anyone praises you, just tell your mind that he is saying a lot of bad stuff about you. So whenever a person is abusing or talking bad about you, tell your mind he is praising you. This way you will be able to trick your mind into thinking otherwise. It’s not a great method but it will do till you know how to meditate.

Meditation will help an individual to retain the equanimity of mind. The mind has a dirty habit of wandering about completely lost and to get it to focus is very difficult. Especially when a man is disturbed by some untoward incident, he allows his mind to take charge. Breath control and meditation work powerfully in restraining this from happening.

You should learn pranayama and meditation from your Guru. When you have a Guru mantra you will be able to do the japa also. These methods are very effective for making you firm in your path. It’s called Dhriti or firmness. No more any sounds of claps or brickbats will disturb you after you practice these special arts.
